You're reading the very first issue of GTown Buzz — your new Wednesday-morning guide to everything happening in town, in about five minutes. No press releases, no fluff, just the stuff you'll actually talk about at the coffee shop. Mid-July heat is doing its thing, so hydrate up, find some shade on the Square, and let's get into it.
The Big Thing: Your water is fine — the chlorine rinse moved to August
If you heard the city's annual water-system maintenance was starting in July and you've been sniffing your tap water suspiciously — relax. The city rescheduled its annual "free chlorine rinse" from the original July 8 start to August 3 through September 3, so it could line up with Round Rock, Leander, Cedar Park, and Liberty Hill, which are all doing theirs at the same time.
What to expect when it does happen: a possible chlorine smell and occasionally a green or brown tint for brief periods. The city says the water stays within state and federal drinking standards the whole time — safe for people, pets, and plants. Two real exceptions: it's not safe for fish tanks, and dialysis patients/centers need to properly treat water before use. Pool owners should keep an eye on their chlorine levels too.

Wed 7/22 · Science in the Park — San Gabriel Park area (445 E. Morrow St.), 9:30–11:30 a.m. Free hands-on science projects for kids 12 and under, while supplies last.
Missed Market Days? Second Saturday Market Days took over downtown last weekend — the next one hits the Square on August 8, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

Eat & Drink: Playa Bowls lands at Wolf Ranch
Georgetown's newest cool-down option: Playa Bowls is now open at Wolf Ranch, slinging açaí and pitaya bowls, smoothies, and juices — basically summer in a bowl, which is exactly what this heat calls for. It joins a wave of new arrivals around town, including Black Rock Coffee Bar now pouring on Hwy 29 and La Vaquerita Creamery, serving fresh Mexican ice cream year-round.

Local Spotlight: The Golf Cart Guy
You may have seen this one making the rounds — a Georgetown resident known as the "Golf Cart Guy" has taken it upon himself to repair Georgetown High School's broken greenhouse on his own time. No committee, no budget line, just a neighbor who saw something worth fixing and started fixing it. He's asking for a hand from the community to finish the job — the kind of story that reminds you why this town is what it is. Details via Hello Georgetown.

The Roundup
New face at City Hall: Jack Daly, a 13-year veteran of city government, stepped into the assistant city manager role in late June. He'll oversee water, public works, parks and rec, and the library.
County shake-up: Williamson County tax assessor-collector Larry Gaddes has resigned. Commissioners will appoint an interim, and voters will pick a replacement in the November election.
Palace Theatre's 2026 season is out — highlights include "Oklahoma!" and "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Mark your calendar: the Blazin' Beer Crawl returns downtown August 1, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
A Little Good News
One year after the Central Texas floods, local food banks and organizations like The Caring Place are still doing the quiet, unglamorous work of keeping neighbors fed — a reminder that Georgetown's generosity didn't end when the news cameras left. If you've got time or dollars to spare, they can always use both.
